Day 19: Surrender | Freedom & Flow 2025
We’re almost at the end of our 21-day journey. As we prepare to close out this time with a renewed focus on freedom and flow, let’s take some time to reflect on surrender—an idea that can feel both freeing and frightening. Surrendering our plans, desires, and will to God is the ultimate expression of freedom and flow. It also embodies other themes we’ve meditated on during this fast, like trust and courage.
Much like trust and courage, surrender isn’t best approached as a one-time decision or something we do on a case-by-case basis. Instead, it’s an overarching mindset—a way of being after we release our hold on how we thought life should go and find contentment in God’s plans. It’s about trusting Him with our unanswered prayers, unfulfilled dreams, and uncertain futures.
Surrender, as we read in today’s passage, calls us to deny ourselves—letting go of both our comforts and our fears—and choose God’s path instead. While surrender doesn’t exempt us from life’s challenges, it allows us to rest in His peace, embrace His plans, and witness His power working in and for our lives.
Think about something you’ve been holding on to—a plan you’re clinging to, a dream you’re afraid to release, or a situation you’re trying to control. Surrendering doesn’t mean giving it up, it means giving it over to God. Now, write that thing down and place it somewhere meaningful—your Bible, a small box, or another space that symbolizes your decision to leave it with God.
