Day 5: Liberty | Freedom & Flow 2025

In preparing for this fast, I came across 2 Corinthians 3:17, where Paul writes, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” At first, I hesitated to include liberty in the fast because it felt so similar to freedom, which we studied earlier in the fast. But after sitting with it, I realized there’s a powerful distinction. Freedom might mean release from personal burdens or daily worries, but liberty is about true liberation and breaking the chains that keep us bound.

Today’s reflection is on chain-breaking through our identity as believers. This goes beyond personal freedom; it’s about breaking generational cycles we might not even recognize but are still tethered to. It’s the power to end patterns of trauma, unhealthy behaviors, and toxic mindsets passed down through the years for ourselves and for future generations. It reminds me of that quote, “It ran in my family until it ran into me.”

So, what ends with you? What ran in your family unitl it ran into you? Take a moment to name a habit, mindset, or wound that’s been lingering far too long. Speak it aloud to God if you can, and ask Him to break that chain. Trust that through His power and your intentional practice, you and your family can walk freely in His grace.
